Kindle For Android

The idea of carrying books around has become a history. Ever since the introduction of Amazon Kindle - a device developed by Amazon.com for rendering digital e-books and media - back in 2007, it has gained a tremendous attraction to Gen-Y. It was a 10 oz. device that allows Gen-Y to store hundreds of thousands of books. It was a great idea to replace pounds of paper weight with one single device. However, a mobile smartphone is much more smaller in size than Amazon Kindle, and be can fitted in pants pocket, so Amazon expended the idea by developing a Kindle app for mobile phones. On March 3, 2009, the first app was introduced to Apple, allowing owners of iPhone and iTouch to be able to access and render half a million ebooks and digital contents sold by Amazon, instead of buying the actual Amazon Kindle device. In summer of 2010, Amazon will announce its Kindle app for the Android phones.

While the new Android phones are very similar to other Apple's counterparts, the Kindle for Android comes with a little extra - it has an ability to access and buy Amazon digital contents directly from its app. The app for Apple products won't allow users to access and buy books directly without going through Safari web browser. The Kindle App will support any Android phone that's running Android 1.6 or better - that creates greater flexibility for older Android phones.

This method of reading e-books and digital contents on mobile devices is particular popular with Gen-Y. Also the fact that this is a cross-platform app, Gen-Y will have a wider selection. Especially with the increasing popularity of Android phones, this will be a great news for Android mobile owners who want to be able to do all on one device.
